Zephyrus
Launch Date : 1948
Zephyrus is a 30 square metre built in lake Macquarie. Jointly owned by Gerard Findlay and Robert Hampshire, she is currently lying at anchor in Point Piper and is about to be brought back into sailing again. Robert campaigned her hard in 2002 to 2005 sailing with Crusing Yacht Club of Australia.
Dr Robert Hampshire had this to say,
"At one stage we were sailing for overall winners in the Monday Night races but broke a mast on last downhill leg chasing the eventual winners. Great fun had by all. My crew back then was centered around my late brother Peter. We haven’t raced her since his death last year but may have her back and ready to race in the Summer series in Sydney Harbour."
We look forward to seeing the magnificent Zephyrus on the harbour once again.
Peter has left behind an enduring legacy and as most of us know, memories on yachts such as these will forever be treasured.
