For Australian square metre yacht enthusiasts

Teal

Launch date : 1938

Teal is undoubtedly one of the more important treasures of the Australian fleet. Starting her life in a boatyard in Sweden, she was built for Sir Roy Faden and John Hopcraft. She is an Erik Nilsson design built by Oscar Schelin.

Her list of success in racing was extensive and within her first few years she was making her presence felt in England winning major events and racing against the English fleet of Square metre boats.

Jack Carr purchased his dream and brought her over to Sydney to share with us. She made quite an impression when unloaded off the ship. Her  exotic heritage and varnished timber hull, a trade mark feature that would put the fear into any skipper trying to win a race.

She sailed competitively in Sydney for most of her years until 1991 when she relocated to Melbourne.

Currently she is undergoing a full restoration and we look forward to her presence on the water once again.
