Skye

Geoge Girdis owned Skye from 1960 - 1970.  Skye was rammed by a small fishing trawler some months after he had sold her to the Sladerer brothers in the spring of 1970 or 1971. She was rammed as she was coming out of Rushcutters Bay, in preparation for a Squadron Saturday race, with Archie Robertson at the helm. The fisherman on the trawler was washing the decks and not keeping watch as he came past Garden Island. Archie Robinson was helming as he was teaching the Slederers to sail the boat. Archie Robertson, a very well known yachtsman who was pretty elderly at the time,, barely survived the sinking, since Skye went down like a stone. She was never located, or raised.
