Rouseabout
Launch Date: 1945
Rouseabout is one of
only three remaining 22 Square Metre class yachts in Australia.
Built in Sydney in 1945 with its elegant profile and long overhangs,
beautifully hand crafted by the builder, Alan Griffin at his Mona
Vale yard. He used selected imported Honduras mahogany for the
planking and choice Australian timbers for the remainder of the
hull, deck and cabin.
Rouseabout raced in mixed fleets on Sydney Harbour for many years. She is currently sailed in Pittwater NSW in club racing and social events.
Skerry ( AKA Rouseabout ) was a birthday present for the current owners Father Colin Butterworth. Skerry played a wonderful part in helping his father cope with a 2 year fight with cancer until he left the wharf in March 2008.
The owner Mat Butterworth had this to say,
"Skerry continues to provide quality time sailing with Colin in spirit. When I need a hand on the old timber tiller dad is there to guide us to the top mark and maybe a little breeze along the way."
